After the first few days of swimming pool ownership, nobody likes to brush their swimming pool, and most swimming pool owners don’t do it.  However, brushing your swimming pool is one of the most important steps in swimming swimming pool maintenance.  You don’t brush your teeth to remove cavities, you brush to prevent problems.  The same is true for brushing your swimming pool.   A regular brushing prevents algae, removes dirt particles and continuously smoothes the swimming pool surface to ensure a long lasting finish.

With an ordinary brush, you use two hands to make a series of short strokes, one hand to hold the brush against the swimming pool surface and the other to push the brush down.
This method requires multiple passes over the same area and is strenuous because there is no way to hold the brush firmly against the swimming pool surface.

With the Wall Whale, the key is to start at the waterline and keep it moving.
Position the brush so the bristles are at the top of the waterline, reach as high on the pole as possible, and make one fluid stroke to the bottom of the swimming pool.
As long as the Wall Whale is moving, it will grip the walls (or bottom) of the swimming pool.
A new brush will have chatter which causes it to bounce slightly for the first 10-15 strokes. Thereafter it will move smoothly.
Whether for routine swimming pool maintenance, algae removal or new swimming pool startup brushing, there is no easier way to brush your swimming pool than with the Wall Whale.

The Wall Whale has a bracket to adjust the amount of force it creates against the wall.
For normal brushing, the low setting is best.
For tough algae problems, the medium setting is recommended.
The high setting should only be used if you wish to push debris on the floor towards the swimming pool drain.
If it requires too much effort to push, move the adjustor bracket to a lower setting or remove the adjustor bracket completely.
When you are brushing steps or the floor of the swimming pool, you have gravity on your side and the force created by the Wall Whale can make it difficult to push. Move the adjustor bracket to the lowest setting or remove it completely for this part of the job.

1 – Press your thumb against one of the support rails. Do not try to squeeze both sides of the adjustor bracket, it will be too hard to remove or replace.

2 – Squeeze the opposite side of the adjustor bracket.

3 – Tilt and lift – the bracket will easily pop out of position. To replace the bracket, position one pin in the hole and repeat the process, pushing down to get the opposite pin into place.
